I completed a quick and cheap removable air conditioning solution this weekend! We had tried to sleep on the boat a couple of times during humid nights and weren't looking forward to doing it again. For the price of a one-night motel stay I bought a $96.00 Kenmore 5,000 BTU window A/C at Sears. I know these have been used before on C-Dorys but I didn't like the front or side window mount for appearance and awkward lifting, balancing, holding and noise reasons. I made a small shelf out of Starboard and built an aluminum channel reinforced piece of styrofoam to form a filler surround. It was a concern of kibitsers that the cool air wouldn't reach the V-berth but it was not a problem. We slept in 90 degree temperatures with blankets on! I'll post pictures in my album in case anyone else wants to try it.

Hey thats a neat idea! Looks like it would be a lot easier that fooling with the front window assuming you already had your camper back up.

I forgot to mention I would never leave it installed underway. If if fell into the transom it could jam the motors and cause a loss of steering.
