I have read about several people using the Maxx 125AH battery from Wal-Mart. What type of tray do you use for this battery? I currently have a group 27 house battery in an Attwood tray (see link below).

This tray and several others I have looked at are made for either group 24 or group 27 batteries. Is there another good tray that works well with this battery? I like the Attwood since it is ABYC approved.

Thanks,

Rob

Funny you should ask! I bought the Walmart Maxx 125 AH to replace two 55 AH Optima Bluetops. The Maxx is physically a BIG (and heavy) battery. I looked for a tray, and couldn't fine one. What I ended up doing was buying a battery box for the Maxx and using the lid as a tray! I cut off the side tabs that hold the lid to the box, screwed it down to the fiberglass battery platform, put some small pieces of wood inside on each side (when you see the lid you will know why this is necessary) and then strapped the battery down with the strap that came with the battery box. I think the box cost $8 or so. It is very secure. This battery is a heck of a buy at $60 or whatever...batteries with similar specs at Joe's Sporting Goods were $200, and that was "on sale. "
