The 1 mile long road into Papa Fernandez\'s beach camp, they have a launch ramp and a restaurant the beach camping is past over a short ( couple hundred yards)but steep 4x4 ridge. This is a famous old fly in fishing area from before they paved the road.

Our first days drive down to Bahia San Luis Gonzaga from the US border. Our actual drive time with the border crossing and some storm damaged bypasses was about 7 hours.

Our launch point is at Puerto Escondido just below Loreto, then down to La Paz by sea. Up in the north east the lower highway 5 shown as dirt is now a good wide paved highway all the way to highway 1.

In with the big boys at Marina Escondido, off south to La Paz in a couple days, it is so nice here it\'s hard to leave it is the fanciest most modern, luxurious marina now with new owners that I have ever seen. As you can see plenty of room for more c-brats! They also launched Sierra with a tractor while we were aboard, then put the trailer in storage.

Morning coffee, nice view, Puerto Escondido.
Setting up the dinghy and it's outboard, portable gas, paddle board, running in the watermaker and all the other things we need to get off the road and head out on the water. So far we haven't needed the shore power the solar is charging to 100% mid day running the fridge, freezer and everything else.starting to watch the weather (wind) forcasts....

Dana cruising along with an unfortunately non functioning Simrad thank God for iPads, something with the network or the chartplotter itself. Update; we called customer service and they gave us the reprogram commands so it is now back talking to the Suzuki.

20-21 knots (21 nautical mph = just over 24 statuate mph) for 125 miles, an unusually grey day, good for making time. Seas around a foot at 4 seconds but then increasing to higher left over wind slop with an occasional whitecap . The Suzuki never missed a beat, normally we would want to take slower hops but we wanted to be here for Marti-Gras then slowly work out way back up to Loreto. (We did make the super bowl kickoff here in La Paz!)

All the families are out walking and biking today as it is the Constitution Signing national holiday. As an artist I am always amazed at how much great public art I see in Mexico.
