 Foam removal
My boat had no inspection hole and no obvious hole of any kind where foam could have been injected. I decided to drill an inspection hole to see what was in there.

There was no "standing water", but the foam at the bottom, next to the hull, was damp enough that you could squeeze water out of it. It tasted yucky, but only very slightly salty.

I used a hand saw to cut vertically around the hatch openings, then used a recipro saw to cut the interior mass of foam into sections for removal.

I used a large chisel and a hammer to pry pieces out. The foam was dry until I got to the very bottom, next to the hull, where it was damp.

The plywood box is a mockup of a Group 31 battery. I may put batteries in here.

I used a metal pipe with one end sharpened as a coring tool to remove the foam under the portable toilet storage area. The wooden dowel is used to push the foam core plugs out of the pipe. The end goal was a tunnel that passes under the inspection hole and to the other side, just forward of the cored hull bottom, for battery cables to pass through.

This pink mystery substance on the bottom of the hull covers the keel. It looks to have been sort of smeared haphazardly in place. Looks like bondo, smells like bondo... What is the purpose of this? Edit: I've since been told by the C-Dory factory that this is Thixo and it was added for

Edit: I've since been told by the C-Dory factory that this is Thixo and it was added for "reinforcement". I really don't see what it's reinforcing. It bothers me that I can't see the glass over the keel so I'm considering removing it and replacing it with some epoxy and mat.

There was a huge glob of the mystery substance on the hull, on the port side of the portable toilet storage area. It was in the corner and broke away easily. It appears like someone dumped a pile of it on the hull, then lowered the berth section on top of it, and this was squeezed out. It was damp underneath.

And another blob of this stuff was on the starboard side! It easily peeled off the fiberglass hull .

And here are the two mystery blobs! Looks and smells like Bondo to me. I would like to learn what the purpose of this was. Anyway, these two pieces were serving no purpose at all. Edit: I've since been told by the C-Dory factory that this is Thixo, and that it was added for
