Now it starts to get ugly. This is what happens when you have no backing for bolts holding rod holders and you don't seal holes that go through cored areas. Core is mushy here. Rod holder on other side didn't crack cockpit deck, but I'm sure there is core damage there as well.

Transom under trim strip shows damage and evidence of past repair. The black plastic strip was missing and a previous owner tried to seal the evident junction between core and fiberglass with epoxy.
