 July 2018 Cypress Island
Eagle Harbor on a hot Saturday in July. All 13 buoys were filled by now, and since it is a voluntary no-anchor area to restore the eel grass, not too many extra boats were anchored, and everyone was well-behaved and quiet. I was lucky to encounter no rowdies or yahoos like you often find this time of year in the San Juans.

By late afternoon it was so hot in Eagle Harbor with no breeze, that I decided to take another paddle out into Bellingham Channel, over to the Cone Islands and back. About 15 min each way in my slow inflatable kayak. The breeze felt good out here but couldn't stay long due to increasing currents.

Back from my Cone Island paddle, the 25 owners have now returned from their hike. Sure enough, it was Dave and Kathy (sp?) who we had met last year in Shallow Bay. We chatted for about 30 min about our respective upcoming cruises planned up north.

Fuel dock. 82 nm and 24 gal of fuel, about 4 Statute mpg, not bad but I've seen better. A fair amount of against-the-current cruising on this tank.

Sunday morning fuel stop before the masses arrive. This was actually about 30 min before official opening but they were already open anyway, fueling up the charter whale watching boats.

Trying to stay cool at a busy marina on a hot Sunday night in July. Will be heading back out Tuesday for another week, after 2 short days in town working.
