Nice and calm along the East side of Cypress. Eagle Harbor was full, heading south to check out Cypress Head

Caught one of 2 empty buoys in Cypress Head (of 4 total), not bad for a 85 degree Friday night in July, the day before crab season opener.

Still one buoy open around 7 PM. It didn't last too much longer.

Saturday morning sunrise at Cypress Head, July 14 2018

By the time I got up Saturday, the other 3 boats had already taken off. And for good reason. Exposed to a breeze from the north, and combined with a 4.5 mph current from the same direction, the water was flowing through here like a river. Decided to take my chance on a more protected spot in Eagle Harbor for Saturday.

People sometimes ask me, "Mike, what do you eat for breakfast while boating?". I often respond, "People, I usually prefer some form of processed pork for breakfast"

Hopped in the kayak just before noon to check out this inner most buoy in Eagle Harbor at a minus 3 tide. Looked fine for a C-dory, or most any other under-30 boat for that matter.
