After Powell River, I headed for Skookumchuk Narrows and Sechelt Rapids. This is Sechelt from inside the inlet. A few small standing waves 30 minutes before slack.

There were basketball size whirlpools around.

Gobs of foam sit on the water when the rapids are running. Here, they have thinned out and are small.

Not every attempt to run Sechelt is successful.

It's best to leave the rocks to the Oyster Catchers.

Off to Princess Louisa Inlet. This is Prince of Wales Channel. Nice and flat and allowed for a 17 knot cruise.

The Queen's Reach (Princess Louisa Inlet is on the right). It was so calm and flat that I arrived an hour early.

Malibu Rapids was running in the entrance to Princess Louisa was easy.

As pretty as the falls were, the waters around the creek were prettier. Nice blue/greens. Even though the creek is snow melt, there was no glacial flour in the water. Good place for a bath, but too many people.

I headed for Deserted Bay on the Deserted River near a place marked "Ruins." I saw this guy on the way.

Deserted Bay hadn't been deserted for too long. There was still an aluminum gang plank to a float covered with heron crap, otter puke, and flies. Nice. At the head of the bay was an outfall culvert that provided a very cold shower.

The view from the shower was nice.

It wasn't long before Deserted Bay wasn't deserted.

The next morning was out Agamemnon Channel and north past Powell River. This is a beautiful sand spit on Savery Island with Vancouver Island in the background.

I pulled into Lund for lunch and fuel.

Kilometer zero of Highway 101. Of course, if you are from the South American town of Quellon, Chile, that is kilometer zero and this is the end of the road 15,202 km away.

In to Desolation Sound to look for pictographs. This appears to be a warrior with a weapon in his right hand. The lower body may have fallen away.

Here is a bug-eyed beetle thing with a top knot. I'm not sure if it is a warning.

A phallic fish?

Lloyd Creek beach looking south down Homfray Channel towards Prideaux Haven Marine Park. A gravel company has applied for a permit to quarry gravel here. The BC government granted it.
