There were some skimpy beaches where there was volcanic ash, but not enough to entice me, given my experience with winds coming up in the night in this country.

I found a crescent shaped bay and "dropped anchor" between boulders on the point and tied a stern line to the cottonwood. Kept me off the beach even when the wind howled that night.
