Leaving the Columbia and heading towards Coulee City.

I decided not to stay at this bed and breakfast. That's the bed on the right.

This coulee is what is known as a dry coulee. I had to turn around and look for a wet one.

This is the coulee I was looking for - Banks Lake at Coulee City.

The free launch and marina at Coulee City. Once again I was the only boat there and the only boat I saw for the two days that I was there. Is it me?

Interesting caves in the basalt cliffs.

Some of the cliff faces had interesting orange and green lichens.

The famous "Kissing Ogres." I just made that up. You can see more of the orange lichen on the ogre on the right.

There were some skimpy beaches where there was volcanic ash, but not enough to entice me, given my experience with winds coming up in the night in this country.

I found a crescent shaped bay and "dropped anchor" between boulders on the point and tied a stern line to the cottonwood. Kept me off the beach even when the wind howled that night.
