It was a slightly more compact version of the full reservoir, but just as spectacular.

Depths were 10 feet and required some reading of the river to determine where the channel might be. You can see on the chart plotter that I am beyond the blue "navigable waters" shown on the chart. I continued on 3/4 of a mile.

I scaled the canyon walls to scout the river.

And then, I looked to my right. Palouse Falls. If you follow the dark talus slope above the falls to the left, where the edge forms a right angle, you can see two light objects right at the bottom of the slope. That is two people who walked out the trail to the falls. That give a sense of size.
