The water is this color because the headwaters (the Lewis river) are snow melt containing glacial "rock flour."

There are a few creeks that come in near the headwaters. A few minutes after I took this picture some whitewater kayakers appeared, having run the class 4+ waters of this creek.

On the lower reservoir, the dogwoods were in bloom. It's still early in the year, so the reservoir isn't full.
