I credit my wife for introducing me to a fabric called "vinyl bag mesh". It is all plastic, mildew proof, machine washable, easily sewn, doesn't ravel, and is available in many colors. The green matches my boat perfectly.

It took about 15 mins for the mate to sew it.  I used dowels, eye screws, SS tabs and a second nut on the through deck bolts to hang it at the foot of the v-berth.

Six inches deep, it does not overhang the mattress.  This was wasted space before.  Plans are to add other pieces towards the head of the berth.  I hate bags and clutter in this area and this should eliminate the problem.
