Rumors of the island's demise at the hands of Hurricane Katrina are greatly exaggerated. However, this lighthouse was once high in the middle of an island.

Once 40 miles of islands 20 miles off the La/Ms coast, with the Gulf beaches on one side and miles of grass beds on the other, this is a fisherman's paradise.
