I'd route your pump hose up 4-5 inches before you lead it down to the pump.

Thank you Captains Cat! That's exactly what I will do. Do you recommend a corrugated flexible line or a smooth line? Does it matter much?

Smooth hose is considered more "ideal" as it allows better flow. Both are acceptable as long as the through hull and hose are sized to the pump(no reducer).

This setup was a bad idea. Boat listed hard starboard on the water. New setup is one start battery in starboard lazarette, one house battery in port lazarette.
