Chain/Rope Splice: Two strands weave down the chain, one back up the rope. *

Chain/Rope Splice: Ends of two strands are sewn toigether and whipped/fused with heat. Butt end is pulled down into space beweeen links after tension is applied.

Chain/Rope Splice: Two strands that are woven into the chain are also sewn together where they cross at each chain link,

Chain/Rope Splice: Third strand is wrapped around the last link in the chain then woven back into the rope using the standard one under, two over system with the strand also going in reverse twist to the rope, as seen in following photos.

Chain/Rope Splice: After weaving the third strand back into the rope, the third strand is sewn to the other three in the rope for added strength.

Chain/Rope Splice: The completed splice lacks the bulging doubled-up section where all three strands are woven back into the rope. This passes much more easily through the windlass, which can jam on the standard type of splice. *
