09: Shows the new special key in the drive shaft slot, the impeller in the pump liner, and the liner being lowered over the drive shaft in position so that the special key fits into the slot on the inside of the impeller. Note the rear alignment tab on the top of the pump liner, and the water discharge port at the bottom of the liner. Once the key engages the impeller, it is easier to gently rotate the drive shaft, while holding the pump liner in place, than to rotate the pump liner, while holding the drive shaft in place. This is because the impeller will tend to slip out of the liner if the impeller and liner are not rotated together. At this state of assembly, the rear liner alignment tab should be at approximately the 160 degree position, with aft being 180. It will be rotated to 180 later, together with the impeller housing. |
