 Lori-L
I have ran boats most of my life past the age of 19 years old. Nothing bigger than 52 feet but commercial fished all over SE Alaska and the Washington Coast and Straits of Juan De fuca. I have to tell you that these little C-Dories are one tough boat. I have had my 22 out in the Straits sometimes when I had most assuredly had rather not been there. There hasn\'t been one time when I felt like I didn\'t have control over the boat. Not too sure about Lori though. I remember one time she looked over at me and said,\

I remember one time she looked over at me and said,\"this ain\'t going to roll over is it\" I will have a little trouble giving up boating as we have known it, but Lori will turn 84 on her birthday and I guess it\'s time to do some changes. Putting the Lori L up for sale is not going to be easy.

Winch half done. The winch motor is just a 2000 lb cheapy winch that you can pick up on Ebay or locally. Cut the winch drum in half and remove the nylon bushing from the steel plate that supports the outer part of the drum. Cut a hole the bushing will tightly fit into in the port side of the shell. When you mount the motor on the other side, it has the bushing in it already. Remove the 4 small screws from the winch and drill the holes out to 1/4 for the bolts that will hold the motor on.

The two side pieces that have the screws left in them cannot be welded. 8x32 screws tapped into the end plates work great for holding them in place. They keep the rode from slipping down between the drum and sides in case you overfill the drum. Holds 300 ft. of 3/8 rode and chain.

Finished the box and installed it to make sure it still fit after assembly, and the thing actually sets in the opening pretty good. Not real professional quality built and the color will never match , but it should work for what I am using it for just the same. Whacked out a couple scrap pieces into a hinge to see what they would look like for pivoting it forward should I ever need the engine to be tilted completely up. Not sure if I will just make them or buy a couple Perks or something like them. They are easy to make and will probably pass with a push so might go ahead and cut a couple out of the left over scraps. That way if the wife gives them one of her \

Home made from scraps of the Starboard. This might just work, but am not going to fasten them on quite yet without approval from the skipper..

Lori said, there is no place to just put something on this boat without setting it on the table, counter, dash, or seat... So I installed a 6 x 60 inch Port shelf trimmed in teak above the table for just stuff,,,and it already is filling up with just stuff..

Both the 90 HP 4 stroke and the 8 HP 4 stroke were installed in December 2008. 90 has 170 hours. Unknown hours on the 8, but the previous owner used the boat very little according to the hours on the 90. Both engines have flush out ports for flushing without starting. I still use the old school method though with the ear muffs.
