The Irish Queen goes W.O.T. in Long Island in May 2013. This movie really shows the power of Honda’s B.L.A.S.T. when you put the pedal to the metal. 115+ HP is more than enough for the Marinaut.

In this movie I took, they just turned on the pumps at Mitchell Park Marina in Greenport, NY in June 2013. Initially the water was rusty brown in color, because apparently, it had not been used for a protracted time.

Sep 18, 2013. What a 4 footer looks like through the Marinaut windshield. This was a rough day on Long Island Sound. Significant wave height was 2.5 to 3 feet, with maximum wave height to 4 feet. Infrequently, we saw rogue waves of 5 to 6 feet. LI Sound was like this nearly the entire 2013 season as short term, alternating cold and warm fronts whipsawed the Eastern Seaboard. The issue with LI Sound is not just the wave heights, but we have major tidal flows and two rivers to contend with that at times can create confused seas.

Betty Ann falls off of 4 foot wave at only 8 mph, then hit calmer head seas of 2 to 2.5 feet, traveling around 10 to 12 mph as we head back home to Niantic Bay

Potential Maximum Wave Height, customized for Long Island Sound, based upon wind velocity, direction and fetch. I no longer rely on the NOAA for predicted wave heights in my area, using them only for wind velocity and direction. I can also assess the Sea State easily based on a methodology from the following link: http://www.wdcs.org/submissions_bin/WDCS_Shorewatch_Seastate.pdf
