Spray on the adhesive, don’t get crazy. Tune the can upside down and clean the spray nozzle after each application. As you can see my nozzle isn’t feathering well but worked out fine.

Spray the backside of the carpet, I used carpet remnants around the sides to catch over spray. These remnants can still be used

The PVC pipe is forward air return for the furnace, it will eventually run all the way forward to the anchor locker. As you can see I had to butt seam a few pieces.
