Morning at Burnaby Narrows. This weather didn't last the day. By evening we had gale force winds and could not get around Ikeda Point.

An early morning beach walk and some blow down trees that had managed to continue to live and create a strange tangle.

It had created a natural shelter.

We didn't notice the deer sleeping in the driftwood until walking back to camp.

We hadn't gotten far before the winds turned us back and we set up camp in a storm. Waves in the Straight were 3m, rising to 5m in the night. We were fairly well protected from the 50 kt winds.

The next day it cleared up enough for a treasure hunt, but the seas were still too big to leave camp.

A few breaks in the weather allowed for some catch and release deer hunting.

On the third day it cleared enough to hang out everything to dry.

The wind had changed 180 degrees and knocked the seas down. Amazing.

The forest behind the campsites was the most interesting to me.

Having never been logged and trampled by heavy equipment, the floor was dominated by moss and rotting logs.

Trees had been harvested here. This is what is called a "Culturally Modified Tree." It showed the markings of being partly cut down with something small, like a hand adze, then somebody changed their mind a century ago.
