Advertising at the C-Brats


Advertising at the C-Brats is a little different from other options available on the Internet.

While we greatly value our business relationships with our advertisers, our focus is on our members. Participation at the C-Brats is a unique experience, compared to other boating related sites. We have many knowledgeable and friendly people, who supply some of the best boating related technical content available. However, it's a direct result of our providing a socially engaging environment for like-minded people, who enjoy a casual and fun atmosphere. We've always stated the C-Brats is about the people first, and the boats second.

Maintaining this environment is our top priority. In doing so, we attract and engage an ever-growing audience that is very desirable to advertisers.

What does this mean to you as an advertiser?

First - we're a little more selective in what ads we will allow. While there's no official endorsement of any advertisers' product, we do want to ensure content has interest to our members, and the company or individual advertising has a good reputation. So yes - we'll ask a few questions about you and/or your business, prior to running ads.

Second - our members are free to speak their minds in the forums. With the exception of obviously inappropriate content, we don't take a heavy-handed approach to moderation. If users have legitimate complaints/concerns with an advertiser's products or services, there will be no effort taken to control such discussions on behalf of advertisers. Our "No Rules - Just Be Nice" mantra has worked wonderfully for us in the past, and such discussions when they do arise, tend to be pretty civil.

Header Zone (468 x 60 Horizontal Banners)

These premium ads appear at the top of all C-Brat pages. In order to maintain a consistently high value for our advertisers, we limit this area to a total of 10 rotation slots, regardless of site traffic. This premium service provides much more than ad delivery, including:

  • Campaign monitoring and tracking

  • Unlimited banners per campaign

  • Textual ad footer content

  • Complimentary ongoing marketing analysis

Front Page Zone (160 x 600 Vertical Skyscraper Banners)

These value ads appear only on the home page of the C-Brats. The vast majority of our visitors start on this page, and the site design emphasizes content contained there. The home page is also the primary location linked to by search engines and related boating sites.

Ads in this zone receive far less exposure than the header zone. This is primarily due to them appearing on a single page, however we also allow many more rotation slots in this zone. Rather than having a fixed number of slots like the header zone, we adjust the number of available slots so that each receives a minimum of 3000 views per month. The ads are priced accordingly, to reflect this lower exposure.

Some of the benefits of advertising in this zone:

  • The home page is the first page visited for the majority of our visitors - well over 90%.

  • The home page accounts for approximately 15% of all C-Brat page views.

  • The ad space provided is a large 160 x 600 Vertical Skyscraper banner. This allows for more ad detail than is provided in the smaller header banners.

  • Exceptions may be made for non-boating related content, although we reserve the right to approve all content

The terms:

  • A quarterly commitment is required. Cost is $75 per slot, payable in advance. This provides 3 months of advertising, starting on the date your first banner ad appears. PayPal only, unless the advertiser has a premium header zone advertising slot as well.

  • 4 slot maximum per advertiser.

  • A single banner ad per advertising slot is allowed, if provided by the advertiser. All banners are subject to our approval for content and quality. No animated GIF's, and no Flash. Ads must be professional quality.

  • We encourage advertisers to use our professional design services for banner ads - currently $25/banner. Unlimited banners per ad campaign are allowed when selecting this option.
